With Diabetes Education
Kaishawn McDuffie was inspired to develop a non-profit organization Healthy Management Diabetes Education out of the need from the community. Kaishawn has been a health care professional since 1990. She has served 12 years in the US. Navy, specializing in Diabetes for the past three years.
Healthy Management Diabetes Education is a grass roots project developed to provide free diabetes education to the community. Kaishawn has made it her mission to increase diabetes awareness and to promote/improve health, healing and wellness. She realizes that education is not readily available and desires to educate those who may not have the opportunity to receive the assistance elsewhere. She knows that education is the key to living a healthy, manageable life with diabetes.
Kaishawn established this non-profit organization (501c3) and needs donations in order to continue serving the community. Kaishawn has partnered with other businesses and health care professionals providing free diabetes education bi-monthly and quarterly. She has successfully organized four Diabetes Wellness Symposiums in the Temecula area that brought together a panel of health care professionals. The panel which included: a Joyce Berenson the dietitian, Dr. Katherine Noeller the podiatrist, Dr. Varma the endocrinologist, Dr. Amy Bui, endocrinologist, Dr. Lewis the optometrist, Dr. Lobue the opthomologist, Mr. Chris Chastain of West Coast Sleep Diagnostics and Mr. Johan the pedorthist provided even more resources and management skills for people with diabetes. So far she has educated over 2500 people via seminars, phone consultations and symposiums. “It fills my heart with joy to be able to help people live healthier lives," says Kaishawn.
Her passion and commitment is evident when attending any of her classes or special events. She continues to carry out her mission and requires donations and grants to build and grow Healthy Management Diabetes Education. Along with Healthy Management’s Board of Directors, Kaishawn continues to develops ways to increase funding for this very important cause.
